Filmy o tajfunu
«Super Typhoon» directed by Dong Wei is a disaster movie that revolves around a super typhoon cast by the goddess Guanyin to punish humans with monsters. The movie follows the story of people trying to escape and fight the monsters in the midst of the catastrophic event. The film’s visual effects are impressive, especially in depicting the monstrous creatures spawned by the typhoon. The sound design also adds to the movie’s intensity, making the audience feel the full force of the storm and the terror that comes with it.However, the movie’s plot is somewhat predictable, and the characters lack depth, making it difficult for the audience to connect with them emotionally. The movie also lacks a clear message or theme, leaving the audience with just an action-packed disaster movie experience. Overall, «Super Typhoon» is a decent disaster movie that delivers on its promise of thrilling action and impressive visual effects. It may not be a groundbreaking film, but it is worth watching for its intense action scenes and impressive special effects.

When a typhoon hits Hong Kong there’s nothing to do but hunker down at home and safely wait out the storm. But how do you stave off cabin fever while you count the hours until the wind and rain have passed?
We suggest doubling down on the extreme weather phenomenon and going all-in on an entertaining disaster film.

So if a T8 has got you down and you want a taste of how bad things could be, try one of these films.
The Day After Tomorrow
This 2004 environmental disaster release stars Dennis Quaid as a paleoclimatologist who needs to rescue his son just as global warming is having a catastrophic impact on the world. Cue a storm surge flooding Manhattan, Los Angeles being devastated by tornadoes and Tokyo blasted by a giant hailstorm.
Is Avengers: Endgame the highest-grossing movie ever made?
One of the few disaster films to feature concerns about global warming, The Day After Tomorrow may exaggerate the immediate dangers, but it feels increasingly prescient as the years go by. It might be scary if it weren’t an equally engaging blockbuster.
Motovidlo
If you’re not scared stiff by the, uh, stiff winds of a typhoon then try this ’96 classic. Motovidlo follows a team of storm chasers looking to get an experimental machine into the heart of a tornado to learn more about the perilous phenomenon.
Human drama comes in the shape of Bill (Bill Paxton) and Jo (Helen Hunt), the now divorced couple tailing tornadoes all in the name of science (while maybe trying to patch things up on the side). The special effects may no longer be as innovative as they were 20 years ago but the suspenseful story still holds up.
Skleněné peklo
A genre classic, perhaps 1974’s The Towering Inferno is not ideal viewing for any Hongkongers who live in skyscrapers, but it’s undeniably gripping. The film is packed with stars of the time including Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Fred Astaire, Faye Dunaway and even a pre-murder-trial O.J. Simpson.

McQueen leads the pack as a valiant firefighter seeking to help people stranded in the The Glass Tower, the tallest building in the world. No B-movie dud – we’re looking at you, Geostorm – this hot one won three Oscars.
Nákaza
The terrible effects of the Sars outbreak in Hong Kong in 2003 still linger in the memory of the city’s citizens. The spread and the impact of the disease made international headlines, so it’s no surprise that Hong Kong features in a 2011 film about a fictional killer disease.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Beth Emhoff picks up a cold on a business trip to the city, but it soon turns out that this illness is something much more lethal.
Po dešti
If the previous films hit a little too close to home, you can always opt for Palme d’Or-winning director Hirokazu Kore-eda’s gentle 2016 family drama.
As a typhoon prepares to hit Japan, a down-on-his-luck author (Hiroshi Abe) looks to reconnect with his former wife and son. Modestly filmed but an engaging character study – in the director’s trademark style – After the Storm is quietly engrossing and perfect for snuggling up with on a wet and windy day.

A “Super Typhoon” is spawned off the coast of China. A spectacular film portraying a mayor who unyieldingly enforces the state of alert, as well as various human events that are tossed about by the typhoon.
