Movies about Trojan horse
The story took place during the Trojan War. The Greeks had tried to take over the city of Troy for 10 years when Odysseus made a plan to take the city from within.
The Greeks pretended to give up trying to take over Troy and left a hollow wooden horse behind. Inside however, Greek soldiers were hidden inside of the horse. A spy named Sinon convinced the Trojans to take the wooden horse as a gift from the Greeks. The Trojans accepted and took the horse into their city ignoring the warning from many people. The following night when the Trojans were celebrating their victory, the Greek soldiers emerged from the horse and opened the gates to allow the Greek soldiers to finally enter the city.
One reference to the trojan horse is in the Pixar film, Monsters Inc. In the movie Mike and Sully are trying to get rid of Boo. While they are coming up with ideas for how to get rid of her Mike says, “Enormous wooden horse? To Greek.”
Cerberus:
The Cerberus is one of the most known monsters in Greek Mythology.
The Cerberus is the offspring of Typhon and Echidna as well as brothers to Lernaean Hydra, Orthrus and many others.
The Cerberus guarded the entrance to Hades and the underworld to prevent those who had crossed the river Styx from escaping. They didn’t have any main powers except for its looks. The looks can frighten many mortals with his three heads, mane of snakes, living serpent tail, and very sharp teeth.
One reference the Cerberus was in the Disney movie, Hercules. When Hercules goes to the underworld to confront Hades he enters riding the Cerberus.
Bonus: Ra:
Ra is the god of the sun and has 4 children. Hathor the goddess of love, beauty, dance and music. Maat the goddess of truth, balance, order and law. Bastet the goddess of protection and cats. Sekhmet the warrior goddess.
Ra was the most important and superior god of Egypt. He got close to the pharaoh and many referred to the pharaoh as the son of Ra. Many believed when the sun set Ra died but alway fought through the underworld and came to earth at the same time the sun would rise. Because of this people thought he had powers of the universe and was the giver of life.
Many people think that the comic book Superman was based off of the sun god. They think this because the sun is so important in both of their lives.
In the 10th year of the Trojan War, waged by the Greeks against Troy in revenge for the abduction of Helen by the Trojan Paris, Hector, the Trojan leader, is slain by Achilles, and there is dissent in choosing a new commander. The choice of the nobility is the weak and treacherous Paris, while the soldiers favor the brave warrior Aeneas, who secretly marries Priam’s daughter, Creusa. Accompanied by Aeneas, Priam visits the Greek camp to claim Hector’s body, and Aeneas defeats the Greek warrior Ajax in single combat. While Aeneas is away raising new troops to fight the Greeks, Creusa, now pregnant, is taken hostage. Aeneas returns and rescues his wife, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, but Paris refuses to support him. Meanwhile, the Greeks, following Ulysses’ inspiration, construct an enormous wooden horse and give out that it is a holy object on which their fortunes depend. As they retreat by sea from Troy, they leave the horse outside the gates with a number of warriors hidden inside. The Trojans draw the horse within their walls, and that night, while the city celebrates its victory, the Greek warriors emerge from the horse, open the city gates to the Greek force, and sack and burn Troy. Aeneas finds the body of Creusa, who has just given birth to a son, and escapes to Italy with the infant. There, with a small band of followers, he founds the city of Rome.

A rousing sword-n-sandal picture filled with clashing armies and vicious swordfights. Steve Reeves gets to be muscular. If you’re not familiar with The Trojan War, you will be completely lost. Director Giorgio Ferroni was a master of atmosphere, that never made any gory horror films, so he’ss been completely forgotten beyond his Bava-esque joints THE MILL OF THE STONE WOMEN and NIGHT OF THE DEVIL. A shame. It’s odd to see every article about Peplum discuss this as one of the greats (which it is) and then look on Letterboxd and see it only has two written reviews.
Despite being very Aeneas slanted it’s a great take on the Trojan war. I loved the characterization of everyone although the actor was laying Achilles looked more like a statesman than a great warrior. Everything kicks off from the death of Hector to give us the final phase of the war. The constant battle scenes are well done, they are large scale with tonnes of extras running around, but with a good sense of geographic location. The sets are large as well, and we get a full sized Trojan Horse. It’s better than the 2004 Troy movie at least.
This adaptation of the Iliad is unusual in that it focuses neither on Achilles nor Hector nor Odysseus but on Aeneas. Why Aeneas? Because he is the legendary founder of Rome and therefore an Italian hero for an Italian audience. Hector is already dead when this film opens, and Aeneas (Steve Reeves) assumes the role of Troy’s toughest warrior. Achilles, surprisingly, is played by a middle-aged actor who doesn’t look strong at all. Muscleman Mimmo Palmara is more formidable as Ajax. John Drew Barrymore plays Odysseus as a conniving villain. Paris is depicted as a cowardly weasel and Helen a conceited vamp. This is really a markedly anti-Greek version of Homer’s epic, in which the Trojan Horse is seen not…
All three of the films included in this Achilleova zuřivost release from Gold Ninja Video are pretty enjoyable, which honestly surprised me since it’s not a sub-genre I’d express a particular fondness for. I’d certainly make the argument that both this and Achilleova zuřivost could only have benefited from the incorporation of goofy/novel monsters for their heroes to fight, but I gather that the Trojan War didn’t actually have those.
Did you know there was a whole genre of films that are kinda like watching someone play Total War on Twitch, but instead of your host thanking people for subs, you have to listen to historical figures say things like «He’ll rue this day» and mean it. Pretty weird seeing Steve Reeves not be Hercules. But you know what works? All those mohawk brush helmets. Great style choice, ancient armies. Let’s bring those back.
I took in an old Steve Reeves movie. Nationalist peplum that positions Aeneas as Troy’s post-Hector champion vynikající, and in fact suggests through feats of Reeves’ massive arms that he may have been the better warrior all along: he defeats Ajax in unarmed combat (Hector only manages to battle him to a draw in Iliad), kills Diomedes, and is about to finish off Achilles himself before an effete, duplicitous Paris janks Mr. Invincible with a poison arrow. This is all in service of setting up the Virgilian nation-founding myth of the sequel, Mstitel. Some cool, epic battle sequences with a cast of hundreds; some egregious use of tripwires on the cavalry mounts too.

In which Ulysses wears battle armour that makes him look like Diabolik. I read The Iliad near the beginning of this year and I’ve thought about it every day since. I don’t think I will think about this film after finishing this sentence.
Making allowances for the wood & papier-mâché sets and the plastic & pleather armor, this is a surprisingly good version of the Fall of Troy — far more mythologically «accurate» than the 2004 film. Complex characterizations, committed performances, and a cast of thousands contribute to the overall effect.
Lavish sets and large-scale battle scenes add luster to this otherwise flat, even tedious peplum spectacle. Steve Reeves does less flexing and more sword swinging in this one.
In the tenth year of the Trojan War: Peplum superstar Steve Reeves as Aeneas Just like in Homer’s Iliad, the story begins with the gruesome death of the Trojan Hector at the hands of the Achaean Achilles (Arturo Dominici). In general, very careful attention was paid to the script and equipment in this film, produced by Giampaolo Bigazzi. It was shot in Belgrade. It was directed by Giorgio Ferroni, who is also responsible for the wonderful spanking film «Who Breaks. Pays» (1975) with Brad Harris and Giancarlo Prete. The plot of Homer’s Iliad is well known, so the great actors can be praised here. Steve Reeves (1926-2000) as Aeneas is great, as in all of his heroic roles. Of course, it…
Watched as bonus feature on Gold Ninja blu. Solid peplum with Steve Reeves kicking ass with sandals on.
