Filmy o spaní na podlaze
So, if you were alive in 2016, you probably know the song «Sleep on the Floor» by the Lumineers. I was listening to it yesterday, and the music video really touched me, it’s essentially a few snapshots of a coming-of-age story of an early twenties couple on a road trip. Link below, and spoiler alert.
Today I was interested in finding out some more about the people behind the music video, and turns out, they shot an entire movie for it, called «Sleeping on Floors». The music video was intended as, essentially, a trailer. There’s not much information about it online, I can’t even find an IMDB page for it (there’s one for the music video, it seems, but can’t find one for the movie), and in general it seems not a lot of people have seen it so I’ve decided to share it here in the hopes of it getting some more love. Link is below, it’s free to watch on the creator’s Vimeo, and it’s sitting at the relatively low view count of 11.5k right now.
The music video will tell you the general plot of the movie, so story wise that will give most of it away, I’m not gonna go into that too much, but beyond that it’s just one of the most realistic portrayals of modern day young love I’ve seen in my life. In style, it reminds me of the Before trilogy (specifically Before Sunrise), though it’s much less conversation driven. The movie is incredibly raw, the sound mixing is quite off I found personally, and even the creator calls it unfinished, but it still has a lot of heart to it. The entire thing is just such a raw look at the emotions of young love and heartache, I would definitely recommend watching it.
Film / Sleeping On Floors
In the summer of 2016 we decided to take a little bit of money and go a long way to tell the story of a young couple on a road trip. The idea was to make a feature length film and then release the trailer for that film in the form of the music video «Sleep on the Floor».
Sleeping on Floors in an unfinished film, made by Isaac Ravishankara and the band The Lumineers. It stars Elise Eberle and Adam Lively as a young couple in their 20s on a Road Trip Plot.
The film can be found here. The cut-down version of it is the music video for Sleep on the Floor.

Agent Mulder: Levi of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cleo finds this charmingly eccentric, and has an open mind about it, but does not take him vážně, to his annoyance.
Levi: This is your first time in New Mexico, right?
Cleo: Yeah, completely.
Levi: So you know nothing about the aliens here?
Tony: Co?
Levi: Ok, ok, so let me explain. Aliens are real, right? You guys agree?
Táto: He lives with his mom. We haven’t really. had much communication for quite a while there, uh. Yeah, tried email, I’ve tried calling him. not much.
Anthony: It’s me. Sorry I took 2 days to call you back. I don’t know if this is the right time, or whatever. Um. I’ve been thinking about our adventure that we went on and something. Y’know, I don’t know, it just, it kinda sucks, y’know, having this story and not being sure whether or not to share it with other people or keep it all to myself. [Beat] How’s that car doing? She still running, even? [Beat] I’m back in California. I haven’t been able to save enough for a plain ticket, you know how much those things are. I miss you. I hope that’s ok to say. Um. I have to work early in the morning, but if you get this, I’ll be up for a couple hours, so gimme a call back. Tag, you’re it.

This is beautiful, it feels like a slice-of-life movie meets a roadtrip movie, and is just a great, realistic representation of young modern love.
It’s an extended version of the ‘Sleep on the Floor’ video but it brings much more meaning to everything we see in the Ballad of Cleopatra. Plus very important pieces of the story that weren’t shown in the video.
The cinematography is beautiful, the use of some of the songs was great. And the acting (especially from Elise) was also really great.
But seriously HOW HAS NO ONE WATCHED THIS?!

This film by the legendary Issac Ravishankara was never finished, but it still might be the best love story I’ve ever seen in a film. It feels so pure and natural, like the camera is just a fly on the wall, capturing true love. Kind of like a «slice of life» tale that blends perfectly with the vibe and music.

watched sleep on the floor so many times and watching this film still makes my heart break
Not that good as the previous little pieces «Balad of Cleopatra». How this relationship should be unreal and «just in a dream» is necessary because nothing’s perfect. By the way, good music.

Holy sh-t. I, like many others, didn’t know that there was a whole movie about this couple. «Sleep on the floor» by The Lumineers was my favorite music video: there are a lot of memories associated with the song and I’ve been rewatching the M/V every summer for the past few years. However, the extended version of it. The story resonates with my idea of what loving relationship truly is so deeply that I couldn’t help but fall in love with the movie itself. I watched it twice in the same day: it gave me incredible pleasure and I cried my eyes out. Simple, pure, loving and beautiful delusion-breaking movie about two adults who rushed into a spontaneous journey to the other side of the country and realized they don’t belong together. A great combination of slice of life + road-movie, and probably one of my favorite films now.
Kacy was right “Oh God oh frick” Honestly wasn’t ready to watch this tonight but alright. I feel like I could talk about this film for hours.
