Movies about Selfish man
If bringing about the apocalypse isn’t selfish, I don’t know what is!

Horror movies have archetypes, it’s a given.
You have your «dumb blondes», your «final girls», your «creepy old men» and so many more. And as Randy Meeks would tell you, it’s all for the formula, THE FORMULA.
We need these characters to progress the story and to create obstacles and interesting character dynamics. And while we all complain about the stereotypes that consistently make up popular horror movies, we still go and watch avidly while they all get brutally murdered.
But there is no character archetype more necessary, and more annoying, than the selfish idiot. You hate them, you root for their inevitable demise, but you have to admit. the movie wouldn’t be the same without them.
Without the obnoxious actions of these self-absorbed tools, most horror movies would end during the first 10 minutes. We need these characters to come in and cause trouble, but my god, do they wind you up.
Someone has to say it: the selfish stereotype character is the pravdivý underdog of the horror genre.
10. Barry — I Know What You Did Last Summer
Barry makes it onto this list for being a selfish and egotistical teenage boy, fueled only by his hormones. But I must warn you, he is not the only example of that on this list.
We’ve all done stupid things while drunk, we’ve said things we didn’t mean, we’ve embarrassed ourselves beyond belief, but have you ever caused a car crash and then threatened your friends into silence? I should hope not, because that would make you a very bad person.
That is exactly what our resident bad boy Barry did last summer when his reckless behaviour becomes the catalyst for the movie’s entire plot. After obnoxiously throwing his weight around while inebriated, Barry’s immediate reaction to the car crash he caused is to feel sorry for sám a jeho auto. And then, when they find the bloodied body of the man they hit, Barry intimidates his friends into dumping the body so that he doesn’t get into trouble.
Just some advice for kids still in school: friends like Barry are only ever going to cause you trouble. Most likely not to the extent as in this movie, but trouble for sure.
Top 10 Most Selfish Characters in Movies
No one likes Selfish people in real life but the scenario is completely different when it comes to movies, as we absolutely adore and idolize selfish characters there. We have seen many characters in movies thinking only about themselves, but these ten characters are a notch above the others when it comes to selfishness.
#10: Scar
Played By: Jeremy Irons
Movie Name: The Lion King (1994)
The Lion King is one of the most beloved Disney movies of all time as it has some great characters. Scar, the villain in the movie, voiced by Jeremy Irons, is a very intimidating character. He was filled with jealousy and so devised a plan to kill his brother so that he could get the throne.
#9: Kapitán Jack Sparrow
Played By: Johnny Depp
Movie Name: Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise
It is obvious why Captain Jack Sparrow is on this list, he is a pirate. In this work of line if one is not selfish then he is not doing his job correctly. He only acted in his self-interest and he always had a way out of any given situation. We still love him even though he is selfish.
#8: Gordon Gekko
Played By: Michael Douglas
Movie Name: Wall Street (1987)
Gordon Gekko is corrupt to the core and he thinks about only one person, and that is Gordon Gekko. Throughout the movie, Gordon pursues cash by any means available, without any regard to the people around him.
#7: Commodus
Played By: Joaquin Phoenix
Commodus did not care about a single person and he only acted in self-interest. Commodus was a spoiled emperor and son, thirsty for power and influence. He was completely immoral and used to spends tons on his amusement, rather than helping others.
#6: Loki
Played By: Tom Hiddleston
Movie Name: Thor (2011)/The Avengers (2012)
Even though he managed to redeem himself as the Marvel Cinematic Universe progressed, Loki was still one of the most selfish characters in the MCU. He was jealous of his brother and wanted the throne for himself. He considered himself to be superior to everybody else and treated them as pests.
#5: Lord Voldemort
Played By: Ralph Fiennes
Movie Name: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011)
Voldemort killed countless people in his pursuit of power without flinching. He enjoyed inflicting pain and suffering on others by torturing them. He did all this because he wanted to be immortal and he was willing to kill anyone who came between his goal.
#4: Jordan Belfort
Played By: Leonardo DiCaprio
Movie Name: The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Jordan Belfort did horrible things to innocent people just for one reason – “to make a shitload of money.” This movie is just amazing but the character is not at all ideal, as he displayed the epitome of human greed and selfishness.
#3: Tony Montana
Played By: Al Pacino
Movie Name: Scarface (1983)
Al Pacino has the caliber to make the fans root for the bad guy. Tony Montana is a man with Pride who had a never-ending thirst for power. In his mind, he was always correct as he had his own set of principles and morals. In his quest for power, he eliminated everyone in his path.
#2: Daniel Plainview
Played By: Daniel Day-Lewis
Movie Name: There Will be Blood (2007)
Daniel Plainview was consumed by the pursuit of money and power, and in that pursuit, he took advantage of others to get what he want. He was a complex character with many layers and that is the reason why the fans love him so much, even though he has been described as evil.
#1: Mark Zuckerberg
Played By: Jesse Eisenberg
Movie Name: The Social Network (2010)
Mark Zuckerberg, as described in the movie is a person who will do anything to get what he wants. He is straight-up Dishonest, obnoxious and selfish to the people close to him. This movie portrays that if you want to rise in business then you will have to hurt others in the process by taking them down.
11 Movies Where the Good Guys Were Actually Selfish and Toxic
Considering the insane number of fans that iconic characters like the Joker have, it is no surprise that viewers adore characters that look pleasant, but actually aren’t. Just like in real life, people in movies and TV series often try to pretend to be someone they aren’t, hiding their flaws in their charm and sense of humor. Even among the characters we really love, there are a lot of people whose bad behavior we ignore.
My, na Bright Side, have tried to figure out which movie characters were able to trick viewers and win their hearts.
1. Kate Austen, Ztracený
It is very easy to feel empathy for this character in the beginning, but it gets harder and harder over time. She always acts as if she’s better than everyone else. Austen is a selfish and arrogant person, who’s not ready to be responsible for her actions. Also, she couldn’t choose between Jack and Sawyer (and her choice often depended on who was the most profitable for her at the moment).
2. Albus Dumbledore, the Harry Potter série
In the beginning, Dumbledore seemed like a great wizard, a strategist, and a good mentor. But he is still a controversial character. Over time, you realize that Harry was just his pawn. For example, Dumbledore clearly realized that Harry had to destroy the Horcrux inside him. And Dumbledore was ready to do anything to achieve this goal.
3. Ally Hamilton, Notebook
Nick Cassavetes’s film is of the best dramas of the 21st century, but the relationship between the main characters is actually pretty toxic, mostly because of Ally’s behavior. She had a terrible personality. She often acted childishly. Besides, Ally cheated on her husband with a guy she hadn’t seen for several years. If you think about all these things, it is hard to empathize with Ally Hamilton.
4. Sheldon Cooper, Big Bang Theory
Sheldon has lots of fans and, of course, the series wouldn’t be as interesting if Sheldon didn’t exist. But in real life, very few people would like to have a friend like Cooper — who’s selfish and rude. He often made Amy cry and did bad things to his relatives without even realizing it.
5. Robin Scherbatsky, Jak jsem poznal vaši matku
Robin didn’t plan to get married or have children but she knew it was Ted’s dream. Still, she agreed to date him even though their relationship wasn’t going anywhere. And finally, Robin had a relationship with Barney, Ted’s friend, which was quite painful for Ted. But it didn’t stop there. Then, Robin manipulated Barney to break up with his girlfriend Nora when she realized she still had feelings for him. That’s selfish, don’t you think?
6. Jerry, Tom a Jerry
When we’re children, we think that the mouse is smart and funny. But when we grow up, we realize that he made the cat’s life unbearable for no good reason. A typical episode: Tom lives a happy life with his owner and then Jerry shows up in the kitchen and steals food. The owner tells Tom she’ll throw him out if he doesn’t catch Jerry and Tom is always in trouble because of him. So which of them is the real bad guy?
7. Jack Shephard, Ztracený
At first sight, Jack seems to be the most positive character of the show, but he has some flaws. He constantly puts himself in danger to look fearless and feel like a hero. And he was the only doctor on the island. This is vain, don’t you think? Besides, he always wanted to be a leader and control everything, even the things he couldn’t control.
8. Cristina Yang, Chirurgové
Sandra Oh’s character quickly won viewers over with her quick wit, her energy, and her ambition. But as a character, Cristina didn’t really develop. She was still as career-driven as she was in the beginning. Also, she was very vain — she always reminded others about what a great doctor she was.
9. J.D., Scrubs
Even though J.D. is the heart of the show and he is a fun and charming character, he’s a flawed person. He goes crazy every time he fails to achieve a goal. And how many times did he do something reckless without thinking about others! Do you remember when he kissed Carla, his best friend’s girlfriend?
10. Rose, Titánský
This is another iconic drama where the amazing love story between the main characters made the viewers turn a blind eye to their morally-grey actions. Don’t forget that in the beginning, Rose was very arrogant because she thought that she was better than others. Also, she cheated on her fiancé and when the Titanic sank and she and Jack were in the water, she didn’t even suggest for Jack to climb onto the door (and there is an experiment proving that 2 people could have easily fit on that door.)
11. Barney Stinson, Jak jsem poznal vaši matku
Barney is probably the most interesting character of the series, obviously, thanks to the charismatic and charming Neil Patrick Harris. But it’s hard to deny the fact that he was a liar and a selfish person. In most cases, Barney only thought about himself. And the lengths he went to win another girl. He also cheated on Nora even though he could’ve broken up with her before dating Robin.

I always used to love Jerry and hate Tom but over the years (and this article) made me realize that Jerry was a wicked mouse who used to trouble Tom for no reason and then Tom became the ultimate victim
Aren’t you forgetting about Pam Beesly in The Office? She had a major ongoing flirtatious relationship with a man from work, Jim, while in a relationship with Roy. Instead of just breaking up with Roy she continues to lead Jim on and then deny him when he finally gets the courage to tell her how he feels. She kisses him back tho! Then later on when her and Jim are together she puts an end to his dream career and makes him come back to terrible Dunder Mifflin just because she doesn’t wanna leave comfort zone Scranton, while Jim was all for Pam possibly staying in NY for three more months to retake art school! Selfish Pam does not deserve Jim!
