Movies about Seductive dance
Today I wrote a post on Instagram talking about Phase 5 of the Sacred Dance journey. It’s called “Remember” and as I was writing about it I remembered one of my favourite dance scenes from a movie, The Matrix Reloaded.
Naturally, this got me thinking about my other favourite dance scenes from movies, the ones that made a significant impression on me.
Here are my favourite 7 sexy dance scenes from 5 movies.
1. Matrix Reloaded
Best dance scene ever! This is my kind of party. The grinding bodies. The bare feet. The muddy earth. The raw cave. The fire. The tribal drums. The dance music. Say no more. This is my versions of ecstasy.
2. čepel
Minus the blood and the beatings at the end, this opening scene from Blade has been a long time favourite dance scene of mine. From the secret location to the awesome techno music something about this scene left a lasting impression on me. In fact, I’m always on the lookout for the perfect “secret” venue to host my own version of an epic Dance Party.
3. Striptýz
When I was twelve years old, my stripper essence loved watching every minute of this movie. I use to blast “Money can’t buy it” and “Little bird” by Annie Lennox all the time. Looking back on this now, it’s very likely that my shower routines have been heavily influenced by this one particular scene below.
4. Špinavý tanec
I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve watched this movie. It was on repeat a lot during the holidays in my high school years. This scene, in particular, made a lasting impression on me . I always saw it as the one place they could be free to dance how they really wanted to dance…and damn it looked like heaps of fun!! Plus, there’s something sexy about Johnny teaching Baby to dance.
5. Thomas crown affair
This is one of my all-time favourite movies . As for the dance scene, it’s the whole tease, power play and seduction between these two sexy actors that I can’t get enough of. Pierce Brosnan can ask me “Do you wanna dance? Or do you wanna dance?” any day of the week.
Remember beauties, never stop dancing!
TOP 10 Best Dance Movies
In this article we gathered the best dance movies according to various ratings, awards and critics reviews. It’s difficult to rate these movies between each other, because all of them are unique masterpiece and enjoyable to watch. So, we put them in the list in historical order of appearance.
Swing Time (1936)

The roots of the dance movies definitely come from Fred Astaire – American dancer, singer, actor, choreographer and television presenter. Gene Kelly, another major innovator in filmed dance, said that “the history of dance on film begins with Astaire”. Fred Astaire performed on screen with his dance partner Ginger Rogers. Together they played in several dance movies and Swing Time is one of them. Even though all the movies are black-and-white, they are not outdated and are still worth watching. Besides, old movies have some special atmosphere and are really different from what modern film-making companies produce nowadays.
Grease (1978) and Grease 2 (1982)
Greasers are a working-class youth subculture that was popularized in the late 1940s and 1950s. The name «greaser» came from their greased-back hairstyle, which involved combing back hair using creams, tonics or pomade. The original Grease with young John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John was very popular and made them famous as movie stars. The movie is considered by many critics as one of the best films of 1978. In 2008, the film was selected by Empire magazine as one of The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time. The song «You’re the One That I Want» became the most recognizable scene of the movie. The sequel for Grease was filmed in 1982. Even though, it had good actors, plot and well-choreographed dance sequences, it couldn’t reach the same level of popularity and acknowledgment as the original movie.

Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights (2004).
Dirty Dancing is a romantic drama film with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey as key actors. Patrick as a dance teacher prepares Jennifer for the end-of-season talent show where he supposed to act as her Pro/Am partner. However, apart from dance classes, the plot is full of drama and romantic moments. The movie is very emotional and won Academy Award for Best Original Song, Golden Globe and Grammy Awards. Some people may consider the term “dirty dancing” is related to dances which have erotic and sexy dance figures and moves. However, the movie is not vulgar and the dances are sensual. The word “dirty” is related to the drama part of the movie, which shows that the life of a dance teacher is not as romantic and pleasant as it may seem. The great popularity of the original movie gave birth to the prequel “Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights” filmed in 2004. However, the critics gave negative reviews to it as unnecessary remake. But if you don’t compare it with the original version, it’s a good dance movie to watch.

Finally, together they create a new dance style and participate in annual ballroom dancing competition.
Step Up (2006), Step Up 2: The Streets (2008), Step Up 3D (2010), Step Up Revolution (2012), Step Up: All In (2014)
Step Up is the most popular modern dance sequel. Started at 2006, it contains 5 movies and definitely new films will appear soon. In sequels it’s very difficult to create new unique movies that will be as successful and fresh as previous and will be appreciated by the audience. The Step Up is a rare case when every new film is unique and worth watching. In each film the choreographers try to mix different dances: ballet, Waltz, Salsa, Tango and other ballroom dances with street dances. You can see different dance practice trainings, performance and dance shows, and dance battles. But each scene is breathtaking and can be considered as a dance stunt with amazing choreography, brilliant ideas and great talented dancers. The special effects are appropriate and in its place, and work of the cameraman is fascinating. The latest films are in 3D format and it adds the presence effect, so you can feel like you in the center of the action. The 3D is of very high quality and brings an enthralling sight and spectacular entertainment.

Street Dance 3D (2010) and Street Dance 2 (2013)
A street dance team faces serious troubles: their leader leaves the group unexpectedly and besides they lose their rehearsal space. Such unfortunate coincidence almost leads to breaking up, but the crew tries to figure it out by raising money and practicing in other locations. Eventually they find a space in a ballet school, on the condition that they include five ballet dancers in their routine. At first, they struggle to get along, but they all become friends in the end and struggle to win the streetdancing finals. The movie shows differences between the ballet and street dances, various dance figures and styles. Mixing together classical and street dances gives unexpected stunning results. The Street Dance 2 is a story of how to beat the best dance crew. It starts with just idea, and then all the necessary steps are carried out: searching the right members to create a dance team, mixing various dance moves to achieve the best results (this time it was Latin dances and street dances), practicing, etc. The film proves an idea that it’s possible to achieve even the most difficult aims if you have the desire and belief in oneself.

VOICE OVER: Kirsten Ria Squibb WRITTEN BY: Joe Shetina

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Sexiest Dance Scenes. For this list, we’ll be looking at movie dance scenes that made our hearts beat just a little faster. Did our picks bring the heat? Let us know in the comments.
#10: “Do You Wanna Dance?”
„Aféra Thomase Crowna“ (1999)
He is an art thief and she is the insurance investigator assigned to track him down. The result is the hottest cat and mouse game you can imagine. Pierce Brosnan is in rare form as the coolly confident Thomas Crown, and Rene Russo’s Catherine Banning proves a worthy adversary and an even worthier dance partner. As they get to know each other on the dance floor, their game of cat and mouse becomes way more than that. The magnetism is impossible to ignore, and it’s exciting to watch them realize it. Behold, our favorite line in the whole film: “Do you wanna dance, or do you wanna dance?”
#9: The Final Dance
“Center Stage” (2000)
This ensemble film about a group of hopeful young dancers was not well-received by the critics, but its dance sequences are another story. During one of the ballets, the dancers got to play out some pent-up sexual tension onstage. One particular segment on a bed brings about one of the movie’s most thrilling and seductive moments. As the dancers’ bodies meet and glide across each other, the audience is pindrop silent. Their routine ends with a kiss that feels almost too real to be choreographed. “Center Stage” didn’t exactly go on to become a classic, but no one can say the dancing was lackluster.
#8: Music Video Shoot
This story of an aspiring choreographer is quintessential dance movie cheese, but what sets this one apart is Jessica Alba’s star power. Her amateurish naiveté in the role of Honey Daniels, coupled with her sensual and showy dance moves, makes for an electric, steamy watch. The scene where the unassuming Honey takes over the music video shoot, enlisting another backup dancer for a brief, improvised routine is especially erotic. The two have an immediate comfort with each other despite the suggestive and intimate choreography. The scene itself is completely divorced from reality, but it delivers on the eye candy.
#7: “El Tango de Roxanne”
“Moulin Rouge!” (2001)
At the Moulin Rouge, even a tango can be dangerous. “El Tango de Roxanne” is a highly dramatic, lusty reinterpretation of the song “Roxanne” by The Police. The melodramatic performance showcases a lovers’ quarrel played out in a pantomime of passion, violence, and dance. It’s an intense representation of the doomed love story between Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman’s characters, but even outside that context, it’s a stunning and scintillating routine. Whether it’s actor Jacek Koman’s booming, gravelly voice or stage star Caroline O’Connor’s sultry movements, “El Tango de Roxanne” is a tango to remember.
#6: “Pony”
“Magic Mike” (2012)
How could we pick just one dance to encapsulate the absolute raw sexuality of the entire “Magic Mike” Cinematic Universe? We could have gone with Joe Manganiello’s gas station strip tease. We could have gone with the dance-off at the end of “Magic Mike XXL.” But we went classic. Channing Tatum’s very first solo in “Magic Mike” is high-energy and completely captivating. It’s a testament to Tatum’s… charisma that he’s mostly-clothed for the entire dance and still manages to make it one of the hottest scenes ever. A striptease is one thing, but it’s the real dancerly talent that puts this one over the top.
#5: Snake Dance
“From Dusk till Dawn” (1996)
Some vampires enchant you with their gaze. Others only have a snake and their natural assets at their disposal. As the stripper Santanico Pandemonium, Salma Hayek gyrates and shimmies with a huge yellow snake around her neck. The scene was not choreographed ahead of time, so Hayek, who is afraid of snakes, had to go into a trance to carry out the scene with as much relaxed fluidity as she did. Without dialogue, the entire performance clocks in at nearly five minutes of pure, unadulterated sexuality. Every character is speechless, and so are we. The dance is tinged with the bizarre in a moment between Hayek and the film’s co-star, screenwriter, (and noted foot enthusiast) Quentin Tarantino. And yet every second of this scene is utterly spellbinding.
#4: “Cell Block Tango”
In “Chicago,” murder isn’t just an art, it’s also sexy. The “Cell Block Tango” is a burlesque number performed by the six merry murderesses of the Cook County Jail. Each prisoner is given her own dance routine to explain (and celebrate) the murder she’s been accused of. Director Rob Marshall stages the murder scenes as duets between each lingerie-clad woman and her victim. Like the Black Widow luring her prey, they enchant us using only logic and a variety of slick and sharp dance moves to convince us to see their side of things. It’s a trap we don’t mind being caught in so much.
#3: “Take Off with Us”
“All That Jazz” (1979)
This Bob Fosse routine is so risqué we can’t even show it all to you. The legendary director-choreographer definitely liked to push the boundaries of musical theater. This raunchy ensemble number-turned-in-flight-video from “All That Jazz” is the pinnacle of that boundary-pushing work. The dancers begin to take off their clothes in the middle of the number, and simulate acts that seem more at home in a seedy New York burlesque club than a Broadway stage. Fosse’s choreography, with its hip-forward thrusting, always has an erotic edge. But the steamy “Take Off with Us” brings this to new heights. It’s sexy, but with a very bizarre, ominous quality that makes it unforgettable.
#2: “Cry to Me”
“Dirty Dancing” (1987)
From the moment they meet, Baby and Johnny are bringing the heat on the dance floor. Early ‘60s melodrama and repressed sexual tension come to a head in this slow, sweaty dance to Solomon Burke’s soul classic, “Cry to Me.” Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze practically burn a hole through the screen as the newfound dance partners are finally honest about their feelings. They do the only thing they can do. They dance. While there are plenty of sweltering dance numbers, watching them give into their passion for each other just launches this one into the stratosphere.

#1: “He’s a Dream”
Electrocution be damned. In this iconic dance number, Jennifer Beals’ welder-slash-aspiring-dancer demonstrates her eclectic style of grooving for a customer base who clearly doesn’t deserve it. Her slinky and titillating stage show is played mostly in silhouette. It’s somehow even sexier than seeing everything in full light. But she catches us off-guard with a mid-performance surprise. Halfway through, she pulls a chain and a bucket of water splashes her from above. The moment became instantly iconic, making it into both of the major music videos from the “Flashdance” soundtrack. It also probably resulted in every club with a stage having to institute a “no drenching yourself in water” rule.
